The 2007 Regulations introduced significant changes to the functional standards and supporting guidance on accessibility of buildings, which included advice on spaces and facilities to make dwellings more accessible.
Please find below two documents one of which provides guidance to accessibility when altering or extending a dwelling (ie garage conversion - guidance to Standards 3.11, 3.12 and 4.2) and the other a letter produced by the Scottish Building Standards Agency in reply to queries from Councils and designers which clarifies the rationale behind these changes as they apply to alterations and extensions.
