Properties purchased

In 2023/24 we purchased a total of 38 properties from the local open market as part of our ongoing policy initiative to provide additional housing for people in housing need.

The types of properties purchased in the last 3 years are detailed in the table below.

Weekly Rent

We are currently reviewing our rent structure to see if we should change how the rents are set, calculated and reclaimed from our tenants. The purpose for the change is to create a simple, fair and consistent charging system for all our tenants.

In October 2024, we wrote to our tenants asking for their opinion on our current rent structure. 263 responded to the survey which ran from 17 September 2024 to 15 October 2024. Further in-person workshops were held on 29 October 2024. Feedback from the survey and the workshops will be used to inform how we set our rents and if we should change our rent structure.

The rent consultation for financial year 2024/25 is now due. The consultation will ask tenants for their opinion on the current rent charge and on a proposed rent increase for the coming year. The survey will be sent by post and will be available online. We encourage all tenants to provide feedback which will inform rents for the next financial year.
