This service is available for people aged 16+ with a learning or physical disability.
You will need a social work assessment to access the service. Other referrals can be made either through GPs or through the NHS Forth Valley Rehabilitation and Assessment in the Community and Home Team (REACH) in consultation with the Social Work service.
The service provides day opportunities and encourages people to choose activities designed to achieve individual outcomes enabling you to remain a part of your community and as independent of services as possible.
Some activities take place at the Whins Resource Centre, and some in other community settings.
You will have a named worker who will get to know you well.
Staff working in the service are trained and knowledgeable and able to provide the right support for you.
The principles and values reflected in the Health and Social Care Standards: My support, my life are upheld by the service.
There are charges for some of the activities and this will be explained to you and your carer before you begin to use adult day services.
You will need to pay for food and meals.
You do not need to pay for a social work assessment.
You may have to make a contribution towards the cost of your day service. Any contribution will be based on your ability to pay. The ability to pay is based on individual circumstances, which will be assessed by the Assessment and Care Management Service.
The service has a fleet of adapted vehicles that can safely transport people with a variety of needs. These vehicles are only used to transport people who are unable to access public transport or make their own way into the centre independently.
Staff can provide 1 to 1 travel training for people who may require some input prior to using public transport.
People can have a community based support service Monday to Sunday between the hours of 8am to 9pm.
The Whins Resource Centre is open Monday to Friday and services are offered within the building between 9am and 5pm, depending on what activities people are accessing. The centre closes for public holidays and for 2 weeks in July.
Some of the activities on offer are:
The service works closely with other social work and health colleagues including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietician, district nursing teams, and speech & language therapists.
The Whins Resource Centre has accessible bathroom, shower, and toilet facilities.
A bathing/showering service is offered to people who are awaiting adaptations to their bathrooms at home, or where bathing at home is not possible. The bathing/shower service can be carried out as a separate service to day care, or as part of a day care package.
