Sport and Leisure - Sponsor's Voice

The latest Sponsor's Voice theme is ‘Sport and Leisure’, with a focus on the Council’s plans to build a new Wellbeing Hub and Lochies School.

The new sport and leisure facility, which will be constructed at The Pavilions, Alloa West, will include swimming pools, a games hall, a fitness suite, a climbing wall, café and other sport, physical activity, and wellbeing spaces.

A new state of the art Lochies School for learners with complex needs will be built alongside the Hub and the aim is to ensure  this location becomes  a place where the Clackmannanshire community can be physically active, connect with others - and to live well.

The project is at the 'detailed design phase' - the RIBA pre-construction and design phase. However, the Council has agreed to implement Passivhaus standard across the whole project. It is estimated that by adopting the Passivhaus standard the Council could achieve a sizeable reduction in energy consumption for the Wellbeing Hub.

The Passivhaus Standard will also ensure the Wellbeing Hub and Lochies School have a considerably lower impact on the environment and deliver against the Clackmannanshire Council Interim Climate Change Strategy.

This month we spoke to Robbie Stewart, senior manager, sport and leisure, and Alison Mackie, team leader for the wellbeing hub, about the exciting plans.
