In November 2006, Clackmannanshire Council entered into a twinning agreement with the towns of Espartinas (near Seville) in Spain and Vendargues (near Montpellier) in France.
Between 2007 and 2012, the council participated in an annual youth exchange programme with the twin towns.
During this time 93 young people aged 12-16 from Clackmannanshire were involved in the youth exchange programme (over 50 went to France and 40 went to Spain) and Clackmannanshire played hosted to just under 100 French and Spanish youngsters.
The council no longer has any active links with the twin towns.
