European Parliament Elections  Bookmark and Share

For the purpose of the European Parliament Elections, Scotland is considered to be one large region. For administrative purposes locally, the poll is managed on a constituency basis before the preferences expressed by voters are amalgamated with those for the rest of Scotland.

This voting system means that a total of six individuals, reduced from seven from the previous European election, are elected at the one time to serve the whole of Scotland rather than individual constituencies.

European elections occur in June every 5 years. The next poll will take place on Thursday 5th June 2014.

Last election

The last European Election took place on Thursday 4th June 2009 with the count taking place on Sunday 7th June 2009.

Results of this, and other, past elections (including statistical information of votes cast in the Ochil Constituency and Scotland)are available from the Election Results area of this site.
