Clackmannanshire Council is one of 32 Scottish unitary local authorities, serving a community of over 51,000 citizens in central Scotland. We share our borders with our neighbours in Stirling, Falkirk, Fife and Perth & Kinross.
Clackmannanshire Council consists of 5 wards, each represented by 3 or 4 elected members.
Three political parties are represented on the Council:
An important aspect of the member's role is to represent the interests of the local community and of individual members of that community striking a balance between the two. Elected members are accountable to the public for the provision of quality services, for establishing the Council's policy framework and for decisions taken at Council and committee meetings.
Elected members consult and are consulted by their constituents on a wide range of issues. Where a member of the public raises an issue of concern or makes and enquiry through an elected member, the elected member may consider that it is appropriate to take the matter forward on their behalf.
Each Councillor represents an area within Clackmannanshire referred to as their Ward.
