Law & Regulation
Administration and Legal staff provide a legal service to the Council and all of its services. They also manage the functions of the district courts and the registrars service. The registrars service deals with births, deaths, marriages, and civil partnerships and is increasingly involved in family history searches and ceremonies relating to citizenship. committment, and child naming.
The Service is also responsible for licencing. (including taxis, street traders, pubs, fairs, late hours catering, riding establishments, market operators, dog breeders and more).
The Council's Data Protection Officer, Monitoring Officer, and lead Freedom of Information Officer are all located within the Service.
