The Council Tax Charge for your home is calculated based on the value of your property. The Assessor for Central Scotland has determined the value of your home as at the 1st April 1991 and then placed your home in one of 8 valuation bands.

There is no increase in Council Tax Charge for 2024/25.

From 2017/18, the proportions payable in Bands E-H, know as the multiplier increased and all households affected were provided information on the change and what help and assistance might be available.

  • The Water Service Charge, determined by Scottish Water has increased by 8.8% for 2024/25.

The bills for Council Tax include water supply and waste water collection charges as set by Scottish Water. By law the Council must include these charges on bills but it is not responsible for setting them. For more information on the water and waste water charges contact the Scottish Water customer helpline on 0800 0778 778.

How to determine your Council Tax Charge from Band D

Example: To determine the Band E charge:

For Band E the charge is 473/360ths of Band D, this means that you divide the Band D charge by 360 and multiply by 473 to get the resulting Council Tax charge.
