Falkirk Community Hospital Patient Transport Initiative

Falkirk Community Hospital Patient Transport Initiative

A new pilot health transport initiative, in collaboration with NHS Forth Valley, will support patients from Clackmannanshire to access health appointments at Falkirk Community Hospital (FCH). The pilot started in October 2025 and will run through until April 2026.

A new direct door to door bus service between Clackmannanshire and FCH is available for any registered patient accessing FCH on Wednesdays.

The service will be available for any patient residing in postcodes areas FK10 to FK14.

Booking information

Patients are asked to book their seat by calling Order of Malta dial a journey on 01786 465355 and selecting Option 1.

Dial a journey will collect patients from their home address.

The bus will operate between 8.30am to 5.30pm, in line with appointment times.

Patients will need to show the driver their NHS Forth Valley appointment letter before boarding.

This is a subsidised bus service with each single trip costing £2 per passenger.

This initiative welcomes mobility aid and disabled users as well as one carer to assist patients between the bus and individual departments at the hospital.

The bus will return patients to their home address, although there may be a small waiting period for the bus to return to FCH.

A café is available at FCH for passenger comfort.

Background

This pilot initiative has been made possible thanks to a People and Place grant, which is funded by the Scottish Government and  administered and supported by SEStran.

Should the initiative prove popular, the Council along with NHS Forth Valley and SEStran will look to continue the service and expand it to include other days in 2026.
