Eligible birth dates for session 2024/25
The application period for funded places reopens on 22 April and closes on 10 May 2024. These applications will be accepted although first choice establishment may not be able to offer a place.
You can apply for funded Early Learning and Childcare the term after your child has turned 2 and you are in receipt of certain benefits. Please refer to the mygov.scot Funded early learning and childcare page for further information.

Children become eligible for a free place from the term after their 3rd birthday. This entitlement continues until the child is of the age to start school.
All children have an entitlement of 1140 hours per year in a local authority ELC setting.
This entitlement means an early learning and childcare place of 6 hours a day over 38 weeks in a local ELC setting, partnership nursery provider or with a childminder.
Certain ELC settings, childminders and partner providers can offer you your funded hours spread over the full year. You need to contact them directly to find out the session options they offer.
There are no catchment areas for nursery places. Placements are allocated dependent on availability. Every effort will be made to accommodate your first choice request.
