Self-assessment & Continuous Improvement

Self-assessment & Continuous Improvement

We have a number of arrangements for assessing how well we are working and to identify how we can improve. This is important for providing assurance to the Scottish Government and our customers that we are working well to deliver better outcomes for our communities.

The Clackmannanshire Improvement Model (CIM) is used to help drive improvement across the Council. CIM provides a structured framework for evaluating:

  • What is working well
  • How our performance compares to others
  • What our customers have to say
  • Where we need to improve

A whole Council assessment is completed annually, and the model is also used by the Clackmannanshire Alliance and individual Council services.

Services also complete a Governance review each year to ensure that appropriate and adequate internal controls are in place within their respective areas to improve the effectiveness of the Council's governance framework (see Local Code of Governance).

There are additional service-specific self-assessment arrangements, such as in Education and Social Services (within the People Directorate) some of which have the option of independent validation.
