Managing Waste Within Schools

Managing Waste Within Schools

Waste Services provides practical advice and support to help schools manage their waste.

Recycling collection

Schools have blue bins to recycle paper, cardboard, tins, cans, tetrapak cartons and plastic bottles. The collection is weekly . For more information on what to put in your bin please visit the blue bin page.

Food Waste Collection

A weekly food collection takes place at each school using brown 140 litre bins. This captures all the food waste that is generated within the school dining hall. All the food waste is then taken to a plant in Cumbernauld where it is converted to electricity and fertiliser.

Litter

Litter pickers are available to borrow.

For more information on organising a litter clear up in the community please visit our page on organising a litter clear up in the community.
