Gritting in Schools

In periods of extreme weather, school janitors are given specific instructions to clear snow to allow access for pupils.

This work is followed by fire exits then all other paths in and around the school, playgrounds, car parks etc.

They will block off paths that cause a H&S hazard until it can be de-iced or cannot be made safe.

Please note most schools only have one janitor on duty, smaller schools do not have any and many have a large area to cover which can result in a delay in getting areas completed.
