Living Alloa Project

Living Alloa Project

The Council, in collaboration with a number of partners, is working to deliver a set of innovative projects in Alloa town centre, due to be completed in 2022.

This includes a new dementia friendly housing development by Kingdom Housing Association. This 60 flat development has transformed the vacant Co-op site on Primrose Street.

The project also includes an active travel hub. This new facility is another example of collaborative working, the building being owned by the Council but leased to a community benefit company formed by CTSI and Alloa First and will provides a focus for promotion of town centre activities, business promotions, and festive events as well as visitor information and gifts. The Hub will also be home to the Clackmannanshire Tapestry.

Living Alloa has also included a range of streetscape improvements designed to make the town centre safer and more enjoyable for people to move through and spend time in. The opening up of a lane between King Street carpark and Drysdale Street revealed blank walls which then became a canvas for an iconic new mural produced by local artists Ross Hastie and Michael Corr following a competition.

The project is being funded by the Scottish Government’s Town Centre Fund which aims to encourage town centres to diversify and flourish.
