Equipment and Adaptations

Where older people or persons with a disability, which can include people who are blind or have a hearing disability, are finding difficulty with everyday personal and household tasks, it may be possible for Social Services to provide various types of equipment which will enable them to maintain their independence.

This equipment could be to assist:

  • in getting into and out of a bath;
  • with hand rails to help with steadiness on climbing stairs;
  • provision of simple tools to enable taps to be turned on or off;
  • fitting of stairlifts to enable access to different floors of your house.

To discuss your needs, you should contact your local Social Services Community Care Assessment Team who can advise you.
