HMP Glenochil is sited near Tullibody and holds long-term and short-term adult male prisoners with High, Medium and Low Supervision Security Classifications.
Prisoners are not committed to HMP Glenochil direct from the Courts but are admitted following conviction, from other prisons.
The Social Work team based in HMP Glenochil is employed by Clackmannanshire Council and is part of the Council's Criminal Justice Service.
The main aim of the Social Work team is to attempt to reduce reoffending through risk assessment and risk management and to contribute to the public protection agenda.
The Social Work team work in partnership with Scottish Prison Service and community based Social Work colleagues in delivering services to meet these aims.
The main services delivered by the team are:
The provision of detailed reports to the Parole Board for Scotland focussing on risk and risk management and making a recommendation regarding a prisoners' suitability for release.
Undertaking full risk assessments on all statutory prisoners using the appropriate accredited national risk assessment tools.
Undertaking all statutory duties as defined by relevant legislation in respect of all prisoners who are subject to supervision following their release.
Carrying out any relevant tasks relating to child protection.
Working in partnership with other agencies including the Scottish Prison Service, the NHS and community based colleagues to ensure a joined up approach to the management of a prisoner's sentence and interventions aimed at addressing offending behaviour.
Working with Scottish Prison Service and community colleagues to plan and prepare for a prisoners return to the community.
The provision of structured one-to-one work with relevant prisoners aimed at addressing and reducing offending behaviour.
