Grants

If you are a private tenant, the Scottish Government's Warmer Homes Scotland scheme may fund energy efficiency measures in your home.

However, the Warmer Homes Scotland scheme will not fund measures which private landlords themselves are legally responsible for under the Scottish Government's statutory repairing standard which is defined in The Housing (Scotland) Act 2006.

Please phone Home Energy Scotland on 0808 808 2282 to check if you qualify for this or use their self assessment tool.

Advice on the best deal from your energy supplier

Energy suppliers also offer some people help towards their energy bills. Home Energy Scotland can advise about any discounts that may be available to help you pay less for the energy you use. In particular, they can apply for the Warm Home Discount, which is a UK Government scheme offering £150 of free electricity to vulnerable, low income households.

More information can be found on our Warm Home Discount page.

Supplier schemes

Some energy companies operate schemes to fit heating and insulation to households which meet certain criteria. These schemes tend to be funded by the Energy Company Obligation (ECO), a UK Government programme which gets the larger energy utilities to install energy efficiency measures in homes. It is worth contacting your supplier to ask about this.
