There were 4.1 million children living in poverty in the UK in 2016/17. That’s 30 per cent of children, or 9 in a classroom of 30.
In Scotland as of 2017/18, Glasgow City Council has the highest level of child poverty at 37% followed by Dundee City Council at 31%, followed by Clackmannanshire, Dumfries and Galloway and North Ayrshire Councils at 27%, followed by East Ayrshire, North Lanarkshire and West Lothian Councils at 26%.
