Genealogy

Researching your family tree can be a very enlightening, enjoyable and sometimes surprising experience.

Increasingly, local residents, or those with past connections with the area, are researching their family history. The Registrar's office in Alloa now has access to all records of births, deaths and marriages for the whole of Scotland dating back to the introduction of civil registration of events in 1855. Parochial records for the whole of Scotland dating back to 1562 to 1854 and census records from 1841 to 1901 are also available from this office.

If you book a Genealogy Search at the Registrar's office an experienced Registrar will be pleased to help you trace your Scottish family tree. Search fees apply.

Please feel free to contact the Registrar in Alloa with your enquiry, the staff will do their best to help.

For more information, you can also visit The General Register Office for Scotland (GROS) site on Help Researching Scottish Ancestors.
