Taxi Fares

Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982

The undernoted taxi fares will apply during the times and for the periods specified for all journeys.

Basic charges

Distance	Cost
First 587 yards (4/12th of 1 mile) or part thereof	£2.50
Each 147 yards (1/12th of a mile) thereafter	18p
Distance over 12 miles to be subject of special agreement	-

Waiting time

First 3 minutes	Free
Each additional minute or part thereof	40p

Extra charges

Description	Cost
For hirings between 11pm and 7am	+33 1/3rd%
For hiring between 11pm on the day preceding the undernoted public holidays and 11pm on the day of that public holiday (Public holidays to which this increase applies are Easter Monday, May Day, Alloa Fair, September holiday Monday)	+33 1/3rd%
For hirings between 00.01am on 24th December and 6am on 27th December and between 00.01 am on 31st December and 6am on 3rd January	+50%
For each additional passenger	+10p
Soiling charge	£100 max

Cancellation fee

Description	Cost
Where taxi is booked but not used unless cancellation intimated at least 1 hour prior to agreed time	£10 max

Taxis (red licence plate)

A taxi can either be pre-booked, hailed in the street or at a rank. The vehicle will have an illuminated sign on the roof.

Overcharging: In the event of any alleged incident of overcharging involving a taxi, members of the public are invited to pass full details to the Licensing Team for investigation - see contact details below.

Private Hire Vehicles (yellow plate)

A private hire vehicle can only be pre-booked and cannot be hailed from the street. These vehicles have a yellow plate on the rear and front of the vehicle.

Please note that the fares noted above do not apply to private hire vehicles which are subject to agreement prior to the commencement of the journey.
