Do I have to apply every year?

Yes.

When can I apply for my child who is starting primary 1 in August?

June/July.

When will I get the clothing grant payment?

You will receive the clothing grant during the summer holidays towards the end of July/beginning of August.

When can I apply for a clothing grant?

Clothing grant applications are live annually from 1 May to 31 December.

How often is clothing grant paid?

It is paid once every academic year.

How much do you receive for the clothing grant?

Primary pupils receive £145 and secondary pupils receive £185.

Do secondary age pupils qualify?

Yes, if you meet the criteria, you will be awarded a clothing grant while your child is in S1-S4. Thereafter your child(ren) can apply for  the Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA)

Is there an online form I can fill in? 

Yes, you can apply online for free school meals and clothing grant by following the link given.

Please remember when submitting your Universal Credit payment that the award and full deduction section must be included as evidence.
