Do I have to apply every year?

Yes.

When can I apply for my child who is starting primary 1 in August?

June/July.

When will I get the free school meals holiday payment?

Holiday payments are paid the Thursday before the schools break up for each holiday.

What is included in free school meals?

Free school meals include breakfast club, milk (primary schools), and school lunches.

Do secondary age pupils qualify?

Yes. If you meet the criteria, you will be awarded free school meals.

For secondary pupils will it show on their ParentPay account?

No, the pupil’s daily allowance gets loaded daily onto their school fingerprint account for them to pay for their lunches. Money not used will not be carried forward to the next day.

Who is responsible for loading the secondary pupils accounts for free school lunches?

Each secondary school loads their pupil’s accounts every morning.  Any issues with the pupils not receiving their entitlement contact the school office directly.

Is there an online form I can fill in? 

Yes. You can apply online for free school meals by following the link given. 

Please remember when submitting your Universal Credit payment that the award and full deduction section must be included as evidence.
