Clackmannanshire Council has introduced a new online chatbot, The Wee Helper, to make it easier for residents to access social care information and get the support they need more quickly. Available on the Council website, the chatbot provides a simple, accessible way to answer common queries, direct users to the right information and support options.

The Wee Helper works alongside new digital forms that provide a more structured way for citizens to request support and share information with services. A new online self-referral form offers a single route into support across Children’s and Adult Social Care, reducing the need for multiple contact forms and helping ensure enquiries reach the right team faster.

Additional service-specific forms have also been introduced, enabling residents, families and community groups to request support for areas such as unpaid work services, care leaver support, adoption support and transitions for young people with disabilities. These forms improve how information is captured and managed, helping services respond more quickly and consistently.

The chatbot and forms are supported by wider improvements to digital access and information. Updated social care pages provide clearer guidance on services and eligibility, while a new Community Directory brings together local and national support organisations in one place, helping residents explore available support more easily.

Behind the scenes, internal digital tools are also supporting staff to access accurate guidance more quickly, contributing to more consistent responses and an improved overall experience for residents who get in touch.

Councillor Fiona Law, Depute Spokesperson for People said: “This Council is committed to delivering sustainable public services and digital transformation has a key role to play in delivering that aim. Together, these latest changes make it simpler for people to find information, request help and access the right support, offering more choice in how residents engage with social care services while helping ensure they are directed to the most appropriate help as quickly as possible.”
