Clackmannanshire residents will no longer have to book appointments to use Forthbank Waste and Recycling Centre during weekdays.
As of Monday 24th August, residents will be able to take their waste to Forthbank from Monday to Friday without having to pre-book an appointment. Appointments will still be necessary for those wishing to use the site on Saturdays and the site will continue to remain closed on Sundays for the time being.
Environment Convener Cllr Craig Holden said: “The removal of the booking system during for residents during week days signifies another step forward in our recovery process. Our waste and recycling staff have done a tremendous job to ensure that the operation of Forthbank has gone as smoothly as possible.
“The booking system was initially introduced to ensure the safety of both members of the public and our staff. We now feel that with the number of residents using the site during week days, we are in a position to be able to do this safely without the need for the booking system.
“We have had a great response from the majority of our residents and their co-operation and messages of support have been much appreciated.”
Residents who wish to attend the site with larger vans or trailers can arrange an appointment by emailing forthbank@clacks.gov.uk.
Commercial users continue to be able to use the site, but current restrictions will remain in place with times restricted to 8.30am to 9.15am depending on site capacity. Only businesses based and operating in Clackmannanshire will be given access to the site. They must provide a small traders tipping ticket on each visit or access will not be granted. The tickets cost £58 and are available to buy from the Speirs Centre on Tuesday mornings.
The Forthbank slot booking system was initially introduced when the site re-opened in June following the easing of restrictions by the Scottish Government.
Forthbank opening hours are:
| Monday to Friday | 9.30am until 12.30pm and then again from 1.30pm until 4.30pm |
| Saturday | 9am until 3.30pm (for appointments only) |
| Sundays | Closed |
The checkpoint will remain in place to ensure permitted access requirements are met.
