Wellbeing Economy Project

Wellbeing Economy Project

A wellbeing economy is an economy that is built on, and seeks to drive, the wellbeing of communities, businesses and the natural environment. It is underpinned by inclusive growth, environmental sustainability, and resilience, to help protect the economy from shocks.

Clackmannanshire Council and the Scottish Government have been working together on a project to identify opportunities on how to drive wellbeing economy outcomes in the Clackmannanshire area.

The Scottish Government has been committed to a Wellbeing Economy approach and is a leading nation in the field. It is one of the founding nations of the Wellbeing Economy Governments Group along with New Zealand and Iceland.  In Scotland, the approach aims to improve outcomes under the National Performance Framework.

Clackmannanshire, with its partners in the Clackmannanshire Alliance, have placed inclusive growth at the heart of their strategic approach. Wellbeing Economics is an extension of that approach.

The first area of this project which will be taken forward for action is Community Wealth Building.
