Workforce Specialist Service

The Workforce Specialist Service is a confidential support service available for regulated staff who, as a result of their professional role, may experience difficulty accessing confidential assessment and treatment for mental health.

The service is provided by health professionals who specialise in confidentially supporting regulated professionals with mental health issues, including anxiety, depression or an addiction problem, in particular where these might affect their work.

Social Work Professional Support Service

The Social Work Professional Support Service offers peer to peer support for social workers throughout Scotland to talk through issues and develop their career by getting advice and support from a trained peer. Click on the link above to request peer coaching or for more information you can refer to the BASW website or email supportservices@basw.co.uk.

Wellbeing Hub

For top tips on supporting your peers, you can refer to the National Wellbeing Hub website including guidance and support for managing menopausal symptoms and helping your colleagues manage theirs.  

Coaching for Wellbeing 

This is a free digital coaching service for health and social care staff. Two coaching options are available:

  • 90 minutes of coaching - this will support you in building your resilience and helping you take action to improve your wellbeing.
  • 180 minutes of coaching - as well as offering the same support as 90 minutes of coaching, this also explores how to lead other through challenging times.

HSC Workforce National Wellbeing Helpline Launched   

NHS24 health and social care workforce wellbeing number - 0800 111 4191 - is open 24/7 and is accessible for the HSC workforce. Unpaid carers and personal assistants are not included but will be signposted to NHS 24's public-facing services. 

Online wellbeing hub

A national wellbeing hub to help health and care staff look after their physical and mental health continues to be available at www.promis.scot . It offers staff, carers, volunteers and their families access to relevant support, providing advice on self-care and personal resilience.

Sleep Improvement & Anxiety Management Digital App

NHS Scotland has recently partnered with Big Health to provide free access to Sleepio and Daylight for all health and care staff to help protect their mental health throughout the Covid-19 response.

  • Sleepio 
    • a highly personalised, digital sleep improvement programme based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) that gets to the root of stubborn poor sleep. Sleepio users interact with The Prof, their virtual sleep expert, who teaches them evidence-based skills via 6 weekly video sessions. Follow the link to access the Sleepio website.
