One year to go until Clackmannanshire’s Wellbeing Village opens

Construction is progressing at pace at Clackmannanshire’s new flagship wellbeing facility and Lochies School, with the project remaining on schedule to open to the public at the start of October 2027, a report to Council has confirmed.

The name of the facility – Clackmannanshire’s Wellbeing Village has also been agreed. This has been chosen to reflect the connected range of health, wellbeing and learning services that the whole of Clackmannanshire will be welcomed and encouraged to use.  Lochies School will continue to retain its own name and identity within the Village.

With just one year to go, the community can look forward to a welcoming, modern and accessible place designed to support people of all ages to be active, connected and live well. The development will bring together new swimming pools, a gym and fitness spaces, a sports hall, an outdoor five-a-side pitch, soft play and climbing, alongside a new public park, café, library provision, social spaces and walking and wheeling routes.

Preparations for opening are also well under way. The Council is planning the activities and services people will be able to enjoy, recruiting and training the team, and putting arrangements in place so the facility is ready to welcome the community from day one.

Cllr Graham Lindsay, spokesperson for People, said: “I’m really excited that we can now put a name to what is going to be a fantastic new facility for Clackmannanshire – Clackmannanshire’s Wellbeing Village.

“I think that name really captures what we are trying to create. This isn’t simply a new leisure centre – it will be a place where people of all ages can come together to be active, learn, socialise, access support and improve their wellbeing.

“The word ‘Village’ is important because this is about bringing things together. From swimming, sport and fitness to our library, café, park, community spaces and family support, there will be something here for everyone.

“With just a year to go, it’s incredibly exciting to see the building taking shape and to be able to start talking about Clackmannanshire’s Wellbeing Village as the place our community will soon be able to enjoy.

"The next phase will involve the creation of jobs through the recruitment and training of the important staff who will help us run the wide range of services and programmes that will be on offer across the Wellbeing Village.”
