Clackmannanshire Council and our Forth Valley partners are taking part in the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence campaign.
The campaign takes place every year, starting on Tuesday, 25 November, The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and finishes on Wednesday, 10 December, Human Rights Day.
This year Falkirk Council hosted the 16 Days of Activism launch event and march, which served as the launchpad for a packed programme of events taking place over the 16 days.
There is a wide variety of events, so there’s something for all, whether you are a resident or from a community group, school, workplace or other organisation.
This year’s theme is “UNiTe to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls”.
This theme highlights the increasing prevalence of digital violence, including online harassment, image-based abuse, and cyberbullying, which affects many women and girls globally.
Councillor Ellen Forson, leader of the council, said: “I am proud to support this global campaign every year and of the ongoing work we do with partners within the Violence Against Women and Girls Partnership.
“Playing an active part in the 16 Days of Activism demonstrates our continued commitment to prevent and eradicate all forms of violence against women and girls, as well as other gender-based violence.
“Every one of us can play a part in putting a stop to gender-based violence and as a Council we must lead the drive to build safer and kinder communities for all of our residents.”
Highlight events include community and empowerment training at Ludgate House, Alloa, on 28 November and 3 December, Words of Change poetry session with The Wee Glesga Poet at Alloa Academy and the Financially Included Roadshow being held at Bowmar Community Centre, Alloa, on 8 December.
Events can be signed up to on Eventbrite here. You can also turn up to some events on the day.
