The Council’s Family Wellbeing Partnership was recognised at the COSLA Excellence Awards Ceremony last night.
The FWP was shortlisted in the Strengthening Communities Category, and also won the Chairperson's Award, the final award of the evening.
The awards recognise innovation and high-quality service delivery across local government in Scotland.
The Family Wellbeing Partnership was recognised as a pioneering model for its innovative, place-based, whole-family support approach.
At the heart of FWP’s work is a commitment to tackling child poverty and improving outcomes for children, young people, and families.
COSLA noted that FWP is making a tangible difference by:
• Reducing social isolation
• Boosting confidence in accessing services
• Improving wellbeing
• Supporting parents into employment, education, or training
Councillor Ellen Forson, leader of the Council, said: “I am delighted that the outstanding work of the Family Wellbeing Partnership team has been recognised with this award.
“Unlike traditional models, FWP is delivered with and for communities, families, and the third sector, ensuring services are responsive, flexible, and shaped by lived experience. Operating as a whole-system programme, FWP is helping to reshape how public services are designed and delivered, driving forward public sector reform.
“This collaborative approach ensures that families receive the right support at the right time, creating stronger, more resilient communities and improving life chances for future generations.
“I am so proud of the team and that the Council is leading the way in reforming how services are designed and delivered to communities.”
Sandra Clements from Hawkhill Community Centre, one of the Council’s FWP partners, said: “In 2019, when I started here, we were supporting families in crisis on a daily basis, providing food, clothing and support.
“Since working with the FWP, we have not had to do that. Local children are well fed, happier and outcomes are improving for families.”
