Tulach Early Years Centre has been praised by the Care Inspectorate in a newly-published report.

The centre, at Tullibody South Campus, was visited by the inspection team on 22 November 2022 and four key areas were evaluated as ‘good’.

These were care, play and learning; setting; leadership and staff team.

Key messages from the unannounced inspection were:

  • Children benefitted from a caring and nurturing staff team who knew them well
  • Children were keen to share their learning logs with inspectors and were proud of their achievements
  • Staff worked effectively as a team to meet children's individual needs
  • Children were engaged in their play and explored the resources and activities with confidence
  • Management and staff had a culture of improvement, and the views of children, families and staff were sought. This supported everyone to feel valued and included in the service
  • Parents said that staff went above and beyond to give children individual care and attention

The inspection found that management and staff at the ELC had developed positive links with other professionals, for example, speech and language therapy and occupational health.

Inspectors said that children's opportunities for play and learning were enhanced by strong connections to the community and the centre was welcoming and homely.

Inspectors observed that the staff team had a mix of skills, experience and knowledge and worked well together.

Education Spokesperson Councillor Graham Lindsay said: "The findings of this Care Inspectorate report are a real cause for celebration. Well done to the dedicated Tulach ELC staff for creating such a caring and nurturing environment and going above and beyond for the children there. This is a great report for one of our newest childcare centres and I’d like to congratulate everybody involved.”
