Following the news of the death of the Duke of Edinburgh, Provost Tina Murphy said "I am extremely saddened at the news of the passing of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His passing will be a severe loss to Her Majesty The Queen who has lost her beloved husband of almost 74 years. His Royal Highness will be remembered for instituting the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme and many of our local young people have benefitted from that.
“On behalf of the council and all our residents we send our thoughts and prayers to Her Majesty The Queen and all members of the Royal Family."
