Great weather was enjoyed by 150 pupils from 12 schools who took part in the annual Clackmannanshire P6 Kwik Cricket Tournament organised by the Council's Sports Development team in partnership with Clackmannan County Cricket Club.

The competition was very closely fought between all the schools and the skill demonstrated by the young players was a testament to all the hard work they have put into training before the event. The winning team, retaining the title for a second year, was Muckhart Primary School. Second place went to the Clackmannan Primary School A team. Third place went to Strathdevon Primary School.

Alasdair Evans, Scotland National Team cricket player came along to the event and supported the young cricket players. At the end of the tournament Alasdair did a short question and answer session with the pupils about his time playing in the Cricket World Cup in Australia and New Zealand earlier this year. He also presented the top three teams with medals.

Clackmannan County Cricket Club members volunteered their time before and on the day to help with the organisation of the event, umpiring games and setting up pitches. Gordon Oliver, Junior convenor for the club, also presented the Ronald Cunningham Quaich to the winning team.

If anyone is interested in trying cricket, Clackmannan County have a junior section within the club and welcome any new juniors who would like to give cricket a try. The convenor is Gordon Oliver and he can be contacted on juniors.clackscricket@gmail.com
