Clackmannanshire Council commemorated International Workers' Memorial Day today with a ceremony at Kilncraigs.

Workers' Memorial Day is an international day of remembrance for workers killed, disabled, injured or made unwell by their work. It is an opportunity to highlight the preventable nature of most workplace accidents and ill health, and to support campaigns that promote improvements in workplace safety.

Provost Tina Murphy said: "Today's ceremony was an opportunity to highlight and support the campaigns that promote improvements in workplace safety, and to remember those workers killed, disabled or injured. We should also bear in mind all of the families affected."

A memorial was unveiled outside Greenfield House six years ago. The memorial was relocated to the Council's headquarters building at Kilncraigs last year.
