If you know somebody who has contributed to help out the local community, or has been there for others in times of need, then time is running out to nominate them for the prestigious Clackmannanshire Citizen of the Year award.

The deadline for nominations is 30 January, with the winner of the award, which is sponsored by the Lord Lieutenant's Trust, announced at a ceremony at the Speirs Centre in March.
The Council is also looking for a Young Citizen of the Year, a category which is being awarded for the third year.

This is the 12th year that the Provost of Clackmannanshire will host the ceremony to recognise the dedication and commitment that local people and groups have made to help improve the quality of life throughout the county.

Provost Tina Murphy said: "There's only a few weeks left to send in your nominations. During this very busy year for Clackmannanshire, I have been privileged to see just what a valuable contribution our citizens have made to the lives of others through their dedication in volunteering their time, effort and care.

"I also know that many of these admirable people don't seek the limelight and so I'd urge the people of Clackmannanshire to think about the people who make that vital contribution to all our lives and nominate them. This really is a chance for everyone to say a big thank you to our unsung heroes of everyday life."

The current joint Citizens of the Year are Marion Levitt and Gary Richardson in recognition of their dedication and commitment to a life-time of voluntary service in Clackmannanshire.

Kristy McQuater was named Young Citizen of the Year in recognition of her selfless actions that have enriched the lives of others.

Nomination forms are available on ClacksWeb. with the closing date for nominations 30th January. Further information is available by calling 01259 452435 or by emailing abryce@clacks.gov.uk
