A production based on stories written by children from Clackmannanshire and Stirling schools will be performed later this month.

Written by the award-winning team of musician and composer Martin Green (Lau) and songwriter Karine Polwart 'Songs From the Enchanted Garden - Songs of Heroes, Villains and Colourful Characters from Stirling and Clackmannanshire' is a beautifully staged production of original songs and a children's show like no other.

This new performance, commissioned by the Council's Education Creative Learning Programme and funded by Creative Scotland, is part of the Stirling 2014 programme of events and will be premiered at the Albert Halls on the 22nd October.

Based on stories written by children in Stirling and Clackmannanshire for a school's creative writing competition called 'Heroes and Villains - Local People, Local Places, Local Stories', the songs written by Karine Polwart explore a host of remarkable characters, both real and fictional.

Winning stories were written by children and young people from: St Serf's PS, Muckhart PS, Dollar Academy, Kippen PS, Bannockburn PS, Allans PS, Drymen PS and Wallace HS.

Performing music written by Martin Green, musicians involved in the performance will be from the cream of Scotland's indy pop scene, including members of Frightened Rabbit, Admiral Fallow and The Bananas Sessions.

The show will feature a choir of 160 children from six Stirling schools led by legendary Big Big Sing director Stephen Deazley. Young musicians from the Tolbooth based Stirling and Clackmannanshire Youth Jazz Ensemble will also be performing during the evening

The show will also include original visuals by an award winning team.

Songs from the Enchanted Garden will be an engaging family show, entertaining to watch and a challenging and fulfilling experience for the children and young people taking part and genuinely exciting music for any age.

Tickets are free for under 18s and can be booked from the Albert Halls.
