Athletes from Clackmannanshire have returned from the Scottish Disability Sports National Junior Athletics Championships with a tally of six medals.

Over 300 young athletes from across Scotland competed at Grangemouth Sports Stadium, with the young athletes from Clackmannanshire qualifying to take part in the national event after a very successful regional athletic championship organised by Forth Valley Disability Sport.

The pupils from Alva Academy and Lornshill Academy who have physical, learning or sensory disabilities gave a tremendous effort and delivered an impressive performance which was rewarded with a medal haul of two gold, three silver and one bronze medal.

Despite poor weather the young Team Clacks athletes did not let it dampen their spirits and competed in events in 100m, 200m, long jump, shot putt and javelin.

Thanks to a lottery grant from Celebrate, the Commonwealth Games Legacy programme, the Clackmannanshire pupils were wearing their Team Clacks squad t-shirts.

The Council's Sports Development and Active Schools teams organise a variety of sport and activity clubs throughout the year. If you are interested in taking part in any of our programmes we offer or would like more information please email sportsdevelopment@clacks.gov.uk or visit ClacksWeb.
