Clackmannanshire schools played their part to the full in Doing Something Funny for Money and raising cash for Comic Relief day on Friday.
Menstrie Nursery Class celebrated Red Nose Day by wearing red. The children had lots of fun doing all things red, including using red paint, red sticky pictures, red water and enjoyed a tasty red snack. At the end of the day they raised the fantastic sum of £113.30.
Clackmannan Primary School raised over £400 for Red Nose Day. The children were dressed as super heroes or in casual clothes.
Ladywell Nursery School and St. Serf's Primary School wore red and had crazy hair and raised £404.16.
Strathdevon Primary School and Nursery Class organised a 'wear something red' event for Red Nose Day. It was very successful and they managed to raise a fabulous £316.76 for Comic Relief.
Banchory Primary School's Comic Relief Extravaganza was broadcast to schools across Scotland. Schools tuned in through Education Scotland's Glow internet site to watch and join in with the pupils as they led a Red Nose Day parade, held a comic relief quiz and performed class items.
The finale saw them dancing the Congo to the music of the Comic Relief song as the pupils exited the hall through a bubble tunnel. From the beginning of the week P.4 in collaboration with Tullibody Healthy Living, "Fruit Barra," staff, created fun fruity recipes, such as: fruit punches and fruit sundaes with a red cherry or strawberry on top.
The pupils in P.4 had benefited from the skills learned at a recent drama workshop led by the MacRobert Arts Centre Drama Outreach support staff.
Education Convener, Councillor Ellen Forson said: " I was delighted to hear that Banchory Primary had been chosen from schools across Scotland to perform live for a national event, schools from Grangemouth all the way to Moray tuned in on Friday. The pupils enjoyed the experiences they gained through participating in this event."
Banchory Primary pupils raised over £200 in support of the Comic Relief charities.
P5L from Alva Primary School held a charity fashion show on Thursday evening called "Red noses and poses" in aid of Comic Relief. The show featured kids and adults clothing from Gap and Mountain Warehouse (Sterling Mills, Tillicoultry), McCalls Kilt Hire (Tillicoultry), Sainsburys (Stirling), BHS and Primark (Thistle Shopping Centre, Stirling). The school showcased looks such as workout, casual, outdoor, work wear, children's smart, night out and nightwear.
They also held a variety of events around the school on Friday, and over the two days raised £1237.17 for Comic Relief plus a further £300 for the same charity by the sale of Red Noses, a fantastic total of £1537.17.
Pupils at Deerpark Primary collected over £310 on Friday for Comic Relief. They sold 180 Red Noses at £1 a time and raised a further £130 for pupils having a non-uniform day and taking part in a karaoke. They are expecting the final amount to be even greater as there is still money coming in for the events.
Coalsnaughton Primary had a 'Wear something funny for money' day where children made a donation of at least £1 to turn up in something funny or unusual. In total the school raised £63.04.
At Park Primary School they raised £363 by guessing the sweets in a jar, guessing the Teddy Bear's birthday, buying raffle tickets for a lovely hamper filled with goodies and making cakes at healthy tuck.
Also all the children at Park Primary school paid 50p each for a Crazy hair and a pyjama day on Friday.
Tillicoultry Primary School raised £514.0 plus a further £214.00 from the nursery class.
Claremont Primary School raised a total of £555 for Comic Relief, which they achieved by holding a wacky dress day on Friday and their P3 class took responsibility for selling red noses. They also had a special assembly where classes paraded in their wacky outfits.
Councillor Ellen Forson added: "I would like to congratulate each and every one of our schools who took part in Comic Relief and raised such a fantastic sum of money, and had fun doing it at the same time. Our schools in Clackmannanshire certainly played their part in Red Nose Day."
