Clackmannanshire's school are gearing up for this Friday's nationwide Comic Relief Day, with a host of top fund raising events.

P5L from Alva Primary School is holding a charity fashion show called "Red noses and poses" on 14th March in aid of Comic Relief. This show will be held in the school hall and doors open at 6.30pm and the show starts at 7pm.

The show will feature kids and adults clothing from Gap and Mountain Warehouse (Sterling Mills, Tillicoultry), McCalls Kilt Hire (Tillicoultry), Sainsburys (Stirling), BHS and Primark (Thistle Shopping Centre, Stirling). The school will be showcasing looks such as workout, casual, outdoor, work wear, children's smart, night out and nightwear.

On the night there will be performances from special guests to provide a variety of entertainment. Additionally, there will be a raffle in aid of the Alva Primary School playground development fund.

Tickets are available from the school costing £2.50 for adults and £1 for children.

Coalsnaughton Primary is having a 'Wear something funny for money' day where children will make a donation of at least £1 to turn up in something funny or unusual.

At Clackmannan Primary School pupils have been selling red noses and on the 15th plans are to dress up as super heroes or in casual clothes.

Park Primary School is having a crazy hair and pyjama day on Friday to raise some money. Children and adults will pay 50p each for taking part in this fun day. For the two weeks leading up to this they have been selling red noses for a minimum donation of £1 each.

They are also holding a guess the teddy bear's birthday, guess the sweets in the jar and a raffle to win a hamper filled with goodies. These three things only cost 20p each and will hopefully help raise lots of money for a fantastic cause.

Primary five from St John's Primary also has a range of events taking place to raise money for Comic Relief. They intend to fund raise by selling red noses all week. And on Friday there will be a casual clothes day. Also on Friday they will be having a cake stall and lots of fun activities including a treasure hunt, drawing competitions and skittles. As the noses this year are all dinosaurs that will be the theme to their activities as well.

At Strathdevon Primary they are having a "wear something red day" incorporating among other things, red clothes and hair. Children are asked to bring a donation on the day.

The Personal Development class at Alloa Academy is selling red noses and raffle tickets to get the chance to win The Beatles comic relief t-shirt.

The class has also put a Jessie J poster in the staff room, to guess what hairstyle Jessie will have on the Comic Relief day. The winner gets one quarter of the money raised from the competition. The school is also doing a sponsored silence, for the full day on 15th March.

Children at both St. Serf's Primary and Ladywell Nursery will be wearing something red and going in with crazy red hair on the day.

While at Menstrie Primary School they will be supporting Comic Relief by selling red noses in school.

Education Convener, Councillor Ellen Forson said: "It is a commendable effort by all of our schools to get right behind Comic Relief and support such a worthwhile charity - and have a lot of fun on the day at the same time."
