Congratulations go to Clackmannanshire's secondary school pupils as they celebrate achievements in SQA exams.

  • The percentage of pupils in Clackmannanshire schools achieving 5 or more awards at Standard Grade at General level by the end of S4 has risen by 2%.

Councillor George Matchett, Inclusion Portfolio Holder, said: "The pre-appeal analysis looks very encouraging with improvement from last year's performance across the board. These results reflect the continued commitment of schools and of the local authority to ensure the best possible outcomes for all of our young people, and they provide a platform on which to build further in the future. I am very proud of our pupils and teachers and am pleased that their commitment and hard work has paid off for so many of them, my congratulations go to them all. We are making consistent improvements in our exam performance and pushing these numbers up remains a central priority for Clackmannanshire Council."

Notes to Editors

These figures compare the August 2011 results with the August 2010 results. Appeals can result in the pass rate increasing by around 1%. Although figures have yet to be confirmed, the number of qualifications achieved by school students who attended college courses during session 20010/2011 is also encouraging.
