A total of 270 P5 pupils from 12 local primary schools visited The Arns, home of Clackmannan County Cricket Club, for their annual cricket festival on Thursday 19th May.
This is a very popular event on the Clackmannanshire Primary Schools Sports Association calendar organised by the Council's Sports Development team and delivered with the support of members of the Clackmannan County Cricket Club.
The aim of the festival is for children to experience the skills involved in the game of cricket. The challenge consists of six cricket-specific drills that include catching, bowling, throwing and striking. The aim of the challenge is to get as many points as possible in the set time - not only for their school but also for the cricket club.
The primary school who scored the most points in each of the six challenge stations was Deerpark Primary School. The winning school was presented with a quaiche.
The club are very welcoming and always keen for new junior members. Their practice sessions are on Mondays from 6.30pm. Please contact Linda Ross on 01259 720629 for more details or visit the club website at www.clackmannanccc.co.uk.
