Clackmannanshire Annual Football Festival

There were football players as far as the eye could see at the Alloa Rugby Club on Friday 4th June for Clackmannanshire's Annual Football Festival. It was a beautiful day for all the young players at this event, which is in its 10th year.

The football festival consists of a series of matches for 4 a-side and 7 a-side games. The disability event involves sections for adults and children who participate under the umbrella of Forth Valley Disability Sport.

The festival had 18 teams from local primary schools participating in the fun 4s, 10 teams in the McDonalds soccer 7s, 60 girls competing for the Forth Valley S1 to S2 section, and S3 to S6 girls league trophies. There were fun activities for everyone to enjoy such as beat the goalie, bouncy castles, football power shot, boccia, mini golf and target games. 12 of Clackmannanshire's 19 primary schools were represented on the day.

Toddlers from seven local nurseries also made the journey to the event and enjoyed participating in soccer coaching - 276 three and four year olds demonstrated their skills!

It was a warm, dry day, which made the event more enjoyable. Enormous thanks go to Alloa Rugby Club for the exclusive use of their club facilities and pitches. Their generosity has enabled the event to continue to take place.

The S1-S2 and S3-S4 girls' section was represented by a number of schools across Forth Valley. The standard was very high on the day with result of the winners in this section detailed below.

The event is sponsored by Clackmannanshire Council, Alloa Rugby Club, RJM Sports Ltd, FVDS and MacDonald's. The hundreds of participants would not have been able to experience such a good day without the hard work of over 50 volunteers and the fantastic Sports Development staff.

ABC Events were part of the festival and added an extra dimension to the atmosphere with music and dancing. The presence of the St. Andrews Ambulance through out the day was much appreciated and ensured the event went smoothly.
