The Clackmannanshire Bridge opens on 19th November 2008.

To celebrate this momentous day and the success of the Clackmannanshire Bridge campaign the Council is holding a community party in Alloa Town Hall.

A cross-section of the community will be invited to the party, from mothers and toddlers and local school pupils, to business representatives and pensioners.

Around 300 people from all over the county are being invited to the event which will coincide with the official Clackmannanshire Bridge opening ceremony.

In January, thousands of local people got behind the Clackmannanshire Bridge campaign led by the Council, local and national politicians and the local business community.

Last month Transport Minister Stewart Stevenson confirmed that the £120 million
crossing will open as Clackmannanshire Bridge on Wednesday 19th November.

Council leader Janet Cadenhead will host the party, while Provost Derek Stewart and Councillor Eddie Carrick, who led the Council's campaign, attend the official opening on behalf of the Council.

Provost Stewart said: "It is only right that the people of Clackmannanshire, who really got behind the Clackmannanshire Bridge campaign, get the chance to celebrate this exciting and historic day which is why we are putting on a party. My only regret is that everyone can't come - but the town hall just isn't big enough!"

Meanwhile visitors to Clackmannanshire Council's website can now send a 'virtual postcard' of Clackmannanshire Bridge to friends and family anywhere in the world by visiting www.clacksweb.org.uk/visiting/postcards/
