Employers from across Forth Valley gathered at Cochrane Hall in Alva on Thursday 25th September for the 2008 Forth Valley Business Diversity Awards.
This is the third time Forth Valley Supported Employment Network have celebrated the Awards which recognise employers who have made a significant contribution to the recruitment or retention of employees from the six strands of Diversity.
Stuart Landels, Chairperson of Forth Valley Supported Employment Network said, "We are delighted to host this awards ceremony in recognition of employers in Forth Valley who are committed to the employment and support of employees from diverse backgrounds"
Forth Valley Employment Network was honoured to have Anne McGuire MP - Minister for Disabled People in attendance at the event as the Key Note speaker and presenter of the Overall Award. The event was attended and supported by Provost Fergus Wood - Stirling Council, Provost Pat Reid - Falkirk Council, Provost Derek Stewart - Clackmannanshire Council.
There were four categories of Forth Valley Business Diversity Awards; Recruitment, Retention, Overall Winner and Social Firm. The awards themselves are of a unique design and were made by the Scottish Society for Autism.
The Overall Winner was William Simpson's Home, Stirling.
The winner of the Recruitment category was ASDA Grangemouth, with Highly Commended going to Alva Motor Company and Commended going to Streetscape Stirling Council.
The winner of the Retention category was Malcolm Allan Ltd, Falkirk with Highly Commended going to Dreadnaught Hotel and Commended to Falcon Catering.
The Winner of the Social Firm was Grangemouth Enterprises.

The Forth Valley Business Diversity Awards are co-ordinated by Forth Valley Supported Employment Network within the Network there are many organisations offering support and guidance for employment transition. The partnership includes Stirling, Falkirk and Alloa Councils, Jobcentre Plus, Careers Scotland and many more statutory and voluntary organisations.
2. The Awards recognise employers who have made a significant contribution to recruiting or retaining employees from the six strands of Diversity; Gender, Religion and Belief, Age, Disability, Ethnicity and Race, Sexual Orientation.
