An art project in Clackmannanshire has helped develop links between creativity and enterprise in schools.
Architectural firm Machin Associates and Lawscript Intelligent Office sponsored an art competition, open to all schools within the local authority. The competition, which was themed 'A portrait of my school', was open to interpretation by the pupils. Reflecting the current new school construction programmes across the authority, the entries were conveyed in a variety of art forms including drawing, painting, collage, photography and model making.
A panel representing Lawscript, Machin Associates, Enterprise in Education (EiE) and an Art specialist were responsible for the judging process and winners were chosen in three categories.
Press are invited to attend Alva Academy Art department for 11.45 on 6 March to cover the award ceremony. A selection of the assorted pieces will be exhibited and the children will receive prizes from the sponsors.

Those closely involved in the project felt the competition had given pupils a better knowledge of the world of work, with connections made with a possible career path in architecture. Pupils were also able to take the lead in planning and making creative decisions, using personal resources constructively in an innovative context.
