Over £2,000 has been secured from a local business to kick-start a Clackmannanshire Under 12's football squad.

Taylor and Roache, a TV Repair business has committed the cash - £500 each year - over four years to help buy the young players football kits for matches played all over Scotland.

And Sportsmatch Scotland has just announced a one year match funding deal of £500 which will be used to finance fitness tests, healthy living talks and a 6 week course in Capoeria - a Brazilian form of martial art which helps flexibility, balance and co-ordination..

You are invited to send a photographer to mark the launch of the Under 12's squad at Clackmannan Road Sports Centre on Monday 5 March at 6.45pm. A representative from Clackmannanshire Council, Sportsmatch and Taylor and Roache will be available for a pictue during the team's training session.

The drive by Clackmannanshire Council Sport's Development team to provide top class coaching to young footballers is also part of the Scottish Football Association's national programme which encourages the holistic development of young players by promoting a healthy diet and lifestyle.

Barry Nicholson, the Council's Football Development Officer said: "We are delighted that for the next four years we will be able to bring on and develop footballing skills in the under 12 age group. During their time on the team the boys will also learn about the importance of healthy eating and how leading a healthy lifestyle is vital if they are to excel in the world of sport.
