The new central span bridge beams have been lifted into place on Shavelhaugh Bridge.

The 10 pre-stressed pre-cast concrete bridge beams, which form the main span of the new three-span road bridge over the River Devon on the Fishcross to Alva road, were lifted into place on Wednesday 12th September.

This marks an important milestone in the construction of the new bridge which will replace the old bridge which had a weight limit of 7.5 tonnes. Work on the bridge started in May and the contract is on schedule to be completed in November.

The new bridge was designed on behalf of Clackmannanshire Council by Atkins Consulting Engineers who are also supervising the works on site. George Leslie Ltd are the main contractors carrying out the work, which has a tender value of around £336,000.
