Potential transfer of Sauchie Hall to the community

Potential transfer of Sauchie Hall to the community

Sauchie Hall has been serving the community for more than 100 years as a venue for social, recreational and educational activities.

Council operation of the building is no longer viable and Clackmannanshire Council will remove all services from Sauchie Hall on 1 April 2025, meaning that it will no longer be possible for people and community groups to hire the hall and its meeting spaces.

We are actively seeking to speak to local groups and individuals who are interested in developing a sustainable community-led option for Sauchie Hall so it can continue to be used and enjoyed by residents in the future.

Through ownership or a long-term lease, community groups have the power to:

  • Lever investment not available to the Council
  • Make more effective and efficient use of the Hall
  • Deliver social, economic and environmental benefits in the community
  • Improve the provision of local services that can be offered to local people from the Hall

The Hall is not for sale on the open market while we investigate community led solutions.

Main community spaces

  • Single storey main hall (210m2) with stage area
  • Smaller hall (169m2); library area (125m2)
  • Kitchen and bar areas (65m2)

Indicative costs

  • Market value £110,000 (2019 valuation)
  • Long-term lease £17,500 pa (dependent on term), based on full repairing, insuring, utility, rates etc costs being the responsibility of the tenant
  • Indicative annual utility etc costs (based on financial year 2023-24)
    • Gas: £6,423
    • Electricity: £6,969
    • Rates: £21,539
    • Water charges: £3,855
    • Insurance: £3,022

The building is in need of repairs and refurbishment both internally and externally which will require prospective owners to plan for capital investment from the outset.

Some repair and upgrading work requires to be carried out in the near term.
