Directions to Alloa

By Road

There are two major roads which cross Clackmannanshire and provide easy access to all areas of the county. The A907 enters the south-east of the county at Clackmannan, passes through Alloa and Tullibody, providing direct access to Stirling to the west. The A91 enters the north-east of the county at Muckhart, passes along the Hillfoots towns and villages leading to Blair Logie and Causewayhead to the west. These major roads are shown on the Map of Clackmannanshire. The locations of Greenfield House, Lime Tree House and a number of other locations in Alloa are shown on the Map of Alloa.

From the East - Edinburgh, Falkirk, Dunfermline

  • From Edinburgh and Falkirk, leave the M9 at junction 7 to join the M876. Follow signs to and cross the Kincardine Bridge. Bear left immediately after the bridge and enter Kincardine. In the centre of Kincardine turn left onto the A977. Follow this road for 2 miles to the Gartarry roundabout, and take the 2nd exit onto the A907. Follow the A907 for 3 miles into Alloa, crossing one mini-roundabout.
  • At the first roundabout in Alloa take the 2nd exit onto the dual carriageway for half a mile to the next roundabout.
  • For Greenfield House - take the 3rd exit, follow the road for 100 yards, and cross the mini-roundabout. The entrance to Greenfield House is 100 yards along the road on the right.
  • For Lime Tree House - take the 2nd exit, passing the Town Hall on your right. At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit, downhill, passing West End Park on your right, under a footbridge and road bridge. At the very bottom of the hill follow the road around a sharp left-hand bend. 200 yards further along the road turn left onto East Castle Street. Lime Tree House is 100 yards along the road on your left.

From the West - Glasgow, Stirling

  • Take the A907 into Clackmannanshire. At the first roundabout take the last exit onto the A907 for 50 yards to the next roundabout.
  • For Greenfield House - take the 1st exit onto the B9096 Tullibody Road. Follow this road for approximately 3 miles through Tullibody and into Alloa. The entrance to Greenfield House is on your left, opposite a small shop.
  • For Lime Tree House - take the 2nd exit onto the A907. Follow the road for 2 miles through Cambus and into Alloa. At the next roundabout take the 1st exit, and follow the road uphill onto the one-way system. Follow the road around to the right onto another roundabout. Take the 3rd exit, downhill, passing West End Park on your right, under a footbridge and road bridge. At the very bottom of the hill follow the road around a sharp left-hand bend. 200 yards further along the road turn left onto East Castle Street. Lime Tree House is 100 yards along the road on your left.

By Rail

By Bike

From the East
  • From Edinburgh and Fife, connect to the National Cycle Network Route 76 (NCN76) 'Round the Forth'.
  • From the Forth Road Bridge there are two routes through Fife - the coastal route via Kincardine and the route to the north passing through Rosyth and Dunfermline.
  • From Falkirk, use NCN76 towards Kincardine Bridge, cyclists must dismount to cross the bride. In Kincardine rejoin NCN76 towards Alloa.
From the West
  • From Stirling, use NCN76 towards Manor Powis, take care at this roundabout. Continue on NCN76 through Cambus into Alloa.
On arrival in Alloa, to visit
  • Kilncraigs - leave the NCN76 at Alloa Tower via Parliament Walk, about halfway along Parliament Walk enter Kilncraigs on the west at the zebra crossing (Tesco is to the east).
  • Lime Tree House - leave the NCN76 at North Castle Street, Lime Tree House is the building immediately adjacent to NCN76.
  • Greenfield House - leave the NCN76 at North Castle Street, turning north onto the Waggon Way, via the tunnels. At the top of the Waggon Way cross King Street (Formerly Ring Road) to Station Bridge. Cross Station Bridge to Parkway. Greenfield House is northwest of Parkway, through the parklands.
