Safeguard Ludgate House Respite services

As the MP for Alloa and Grangemouth, I am asking residents to join my calls to Clackmannanshire Council and the Clackmannanshire & Stirling Health & Social Care Partnership (HSCP) to safeguard the future of Ludgate House Resource Centre in Alloa and the services provided from within; including the respite and short-term assessment services. I have met with concerned members of the workforce at Ludgate House who are seeking clarity on the future of services for families as well as their own employment, having heard that respite beds would become surplus to requirements as a new model for a short breaks service is being developed across Clacks and Stirling. Over the years, Ludgate House has touched the lives of many residents in the area but service users and families are now worried that this valuable service could disappear as a result of changes to come. While opportunities for supported individuals and carers to tailor their short breaks and respite marks progress and will be welcomed by people I am sure, the valuable service provided by the dedicated workforce at Ludgate House should remain in place as an option. With further reports to be brought before Clackmannanshire Council and the Integration Joint Board of the HSCP, I and signatories are calling on decision makers to keep Ludgate House Resource Centre open and working so that it may continue to benefit local families and unpaid carers as part of the new short breaks and respite model.
